Abstract:
We compute two-, three-, and four-point correlation functions using cosmological $N$-body simulations in order to quantitatively examine their mutual relations. Particular attention was paid to see whether or not they obey the hierarchical relations, treating different geometrical configurations of three- and four-points separately. We found that the hierarchical relations hold only very approximately in real space, but they hold better in redshift space especially in strongly nonlinear regimes of fluctuations. We construct an analytic model that connects the correlation functions in real space and in redshift space in nonlinear regime. This model is compared with numerical analyses above, giving a good agreement.
